How to Extend iPhone 3G battery life. Depending on how they are configured, a few features may decrease your iPhone 3G battery life. For example, Using 3G cellular networks loads data faster, but may also decrease battery life, especially in areas with limited 3G coverage. The tips below apply to an iPhone running iPhone 2.0 or later software and may help extend your battery life.
  • Turn off 3G

You’ll get slower web-surfing and data-speeds, but You will still be able to make and receive calls and access cellular data networks via EDGE or GPRS where available.
Go to Settings > General > Network > Enable 3G and toggle ‘OFF’

  • Minimize use of location services

Applications that actively use location services such as Maps may reduce battery life.
Go to Settings > General > Location Services or use location services only when needed.

  • Turn off Wi-Fi

Go to Settings > Wi-Fi and set Wi-Fi to ‘OFF’.
Note that if you frequently use your iPhone to browse the web, battery life may be improved by using Wi-Fi instead of cellular data networks.

  • Turn off Bluetooth

You can also turn off Bluetooth to save power.
Go to Settings > General > Bluetooth and set Bluetooth to Off.

  • Change Fetch Data Setting

The more frequently email or other data is fetched, the quicker your battery may drain so Fetch new data less frequently! From the Home screen choose Settings > Fetch New Data and tap Manually. You can set your interval to 30 Minutes or 1 Hour. To increase the fetch interval, go to Settings > Fetch New Data and tap Hourly. Note that this is a global setting and applies to all applications that do not support push services.

  • Turn off Push Mail

Turn off push mail when you don’t need it.
Go to Settings > Fetch New Data and set Push to Off. Messages sent to your push email accounts will now be received on your phone based on the global Fetch setting rather than as they arrive.

Recently i watch a Security Flaw with the iPhone running the Firmware version 2.0.2 that gave a personal access to your email account and contacts when you have your iPhone locked.

How to do this hack

  1. Go to the unlock screen
  2. Try to unlock your keypad
  3. Their will be a popup screen with a password screen
  4. Hit your home tab buttons two times and bingo, you are done

How to fix this

  1. Go to Setting> General >Home Button
  2. Double hit your home button
  3. Change your Home to Ipod , temporally fix your problem

This is a quick but not permanent fix to this security Flaw.

File Magic Application for the iPhone


File Magic from SplashData is one of several file transfer apps for iPhone.

Method :

  1. Launch File Magic on the desktop and the handheld. The handheld application will ask you to allow the connection.
  2. Drag and drop any file into the File Magic desktop and it will be transferred over Wi-Fi to the device.
  3. Tap the folder, then the file you wish to view on the handheld.

According to the iPhone Blog, transferring the files through this app couldn’t be easier - just use the drag-and-drop interface on the File Magic Desktop app and the files will “magically” appear on your iPhone File Magic app via your WiFi connection.
